They learned the basics of first aid, how to act during shelling, extinguish burning cars, and extricate victims from vehicles. Representatives of three communities were taught all this during a training session in the Velyka Omelyana community for women volunteer firefighting teams.
As part of the “Side by Side: Cohesive Communities” project, the State Emergency Service of Ukraine in Rivne region and the Red Cross Society held a two-day intensive training course for participants.
Women from Odesa, Chernihiv, and Rivne regions gained useful skills, because it is essential to act quickly and decisively in extreme situations. The first few seconds can be decisive in saving a person’s life.
The training not only improved the participants’ preparedness, but also strengthened cooperation between communities working to ensure that everyone knows how to save lives. Outpost communities and partners gathered to exchange experiences and see examples of successful projects that have already been implemented.
