Despite the war and constant worries, Ukrainian communities in the project “Side by Side: United Communities” find an opportunity to support children from frontline territories.
Students of the Semenenkivsky Lyceum from the frontline Pavlivska rural territorial community of Zaporizhzhia region spent their winter holidays in Cherkasy region. They were hospitably received by the Shramkivska village council. The children visited Shevchenko places in Kaniv, actively spent time at sports and cultural events, and ended their trip in Cherkasy – with a joint vacation and a trip to the cinema. For schoolchildren, this was an opportunity to feel support and find new friends.
Children from Novodniestrovsk city council went on a winter vacation to Kalush for the fourth time. Accommodation, meals and leisure for them were provided by the Kalush city council, and the trip was organized by their own transport.
The Galician territorial community hospitably welcomed a group of children from the Chuhuyiv City Council of the Kharkiv region – a front-line region that is regularly subjected to shelling. A warm welcome and an opportunity to spend time without constant worries were prepared for the guests. The most important task of this trip was for the children to feel at least briefly calm and safe.
Children from the Kalynivka settlement military administration of the Kherson region came to the Velikokuchurivska Community. During the week, they rested in a safe and cozy environment, got acquainted with Bukovyna traditions and picturesque landscapes. A rich program was prepared for the guests: excursions, cultural events, active recreation and fun meetings with peers.
Winter trips, new acquaintances and sincere care become an important respite for children and give unforgettable emotions that are so lacking for residents of outpost communities.
