From August 8 to 10, a unique exhibition dedicated to the year of defense of Chasiv Yar by the soldiers of the 24th separate mechanized brigade named after King Danylo, “CHASIV YAR. FIREPROOF,” will take place on Kontraktova Square in Kyiv. Despite the enemy’s plans to capture the city before May 9, 2024, it remains unconquered.
The exhibition includes 54 photographs accompanied by an audio recording of a poem by Serhiy Zhadan against the backdrop of the sounds of war echoing in Chasiv Yar.
The author of the works is Oleg Petrasyok, press officer of the 24th Mechanized Brigade, military photographer, and documentary filmmaker.
Each photograph reflects one of the 54 weeks of continuous fierce fighting for the city. It is a kind of chronicle of the war, telling of courage, resilience, and feats that cannot be forgotten.
The exhibition is located on fragments of fences damaged by Russian shelling and brought from Donetsk Oblast.
Among the exhibits are an armored Humvee from Chasiv Yar, as well as war trophies: fragments of Russian aerial bombs, parts of drones and ammunition used by the occupiers to attack the positions of our soldiers and peaceful cities in Donetsk Oblast.
The Uman community, which is a partner of the Chasiv Yar community within the framework of the “Shoulder to Shoulder: Cohesive Communities” project, came to support Chasiv Yar at this exhibition.
We invite Kyiv residents and guests of the capital to visit. The exhibition will run from August 8 to 10 at Kontraktova Square. Admission is free.
