The national project “Side by Side: United Communities” continues to unite outpost communities with partners from all over Ukraine. During this time, 50 out of 51 communities in Sumy region have joined the initiative. This is a lot of real action aimed at supporting people in the frontline region.
Initially, 10 communities in Sumy region joined the project, which signed memorandums of cooperation with communities in Ternopil, Lviv, Rivne, Vinnytsia and Volyn regions. In the second wave of the project, another 25 communities joined, and the number of partnerships increased to 40. Currently, the third wave is underway, where 42 communities in Sumy region are already participating. Some of them are participating in the project for the first time, and some are looking for additional partners.
During this time, the partner communities have transferred ambulances and fire trucks, generators, humanitarian aid, school equipment, and participated in the restoration of residential buildings, hospitals, and administrative buildings to the Sumy region. Millions of hryvnias have also been transferred to support residents or restore infrastructure.
As part of the project for the Sumy region’s border guards, a community from Rivne region has transferred drones to perform combat missions. Charity fairs and events were organized in different regions to raise funds for the needs of residents of front-line areas.
An important part of cooperation is the improvement and recreation of children. Almost 700 boys and girls from the Sumy region went on vacation and excursions to partner communities. This is an opportunity to distract from the war for a while and feel care and support.
The project “Side by Side: United Communities” proves that in difficult times, no one will be left alone with difficulties.
