A presentation of the documentary film “Chasovy Yar: 2 years of defense” and the photo exhibition “Through the Fog of War: The Faces of Chasovy Yar” was held in Kyiv. They were created by fighters of the 18th Slavic Brigade of the National Guard with the assistance of the Donetsk Regional State Administration and the Chasovoyarsk MVA.
The premiere was attended by the “Side by Side” team, representatives of the partner communities of the Chasovoyarsk MVA from the Yasinyansk territorial community and from the Uman city council, as well as the Mironivsk city council, which will soon officially become a partner.
The film is based on personal videos of the military, filmed directly during the defense of the city. In the frame – not a war from the news, but their lives. Daily service. Fatigue. Supporting each other. And the city, which has been under attack for two years
During the presentation, they talked about the situation in Chasovy Yar itself. It remains consistently critical: the city is constantly under fire, a significant part of the infrastructure is destroyed, and living conditions are minimal.
Despite this, the Ukrainian military continues to hold its ground.
The film and the exhibition will be seen not only by Ukrainian, but also by international audiences. These are difficult shots. They are difficult to watch, but they must be seen. To remember. And to understand at what cost Ukraine is holding on.
