Children from the Yavornytsia community of the Dnipropetrovsk region visited Kalush, in the Ivano-Frankivsk region, as part of the national project “Side by Side: United Communities”.
The acquaintance with the city began with Heroes’ Square. On it are the flags of Kalush’s sister cities from Europe and the USA: a symbol of openness and connection with the world.
And also with an unexpected “excursion” from local pigeons. They were not afraid of the guests and even sat on their hands.
Next was a map of Ukraine in the form of regional ornaments.
The children immediately looked for “their own”: first the Dnipropetrovsk region, where they came from, and then the Ivano-Frankivsk region, which became their home for a few days.
A separate stage of the program was a visit to the Memorial Museum “Kaluska Prison”, where the participants learned about the history of the region and saw an exhibition dedicated to the modern Russian-Ukrainian war.
The children also visited the Local History Museum, where they got acquainted with the history, traditions and cultural heritage of the Kalush region.
Even the rain did not spoil the vivid impressions and warm welcome.
Such trips contribute to the exchange of experience, support for children and strengthening partnerships between communities.
